Times of Trouble:
So, today I have an interview at 6:30 with a local software place. I hope that goes well, but really I just want it to be over so I can just worry about my Algorithms test on Friday. I spent most of last evening studying for it and will do so again right after my interview today. Unfortunatly, Dreamfall: The Longest Journey came last night as well and as soon as people left here I went to play it. It went from 11 to 12 to 1 to 2 to 3 before i was like oh crap I have to sleep! People are right in that its really not much of a game, there is walking around and some basic puzzling, but really it is all about the story, which is constantly moving forward. It plays just like an interactive book that you don't want to put down. I'm not sure if I have had a "1 page more feeling" so strongly with a game before. The sad thing is that even though they give you some backstory in the game, you really have to have played the old game and remember the locations and characters to understand the depth of the game. Right now I have just broken into the abandoned appartment of the main character in the first Longest journey, which is now a wreck after the Collapse. Having been there before in the old game when the world was happy and a bunch of art students lived there, the whole scene had much more impact. I rant like this because its one of the most exciting things I have seen on a computer ever, but there are so few people in this world that will be able to really appriciate it's genius. I hope it doesn't let up as I move forward. Also, I hope I actually get work done today instead of play it all day. Oh and Sin2: Emergence was pretty good, Ill maybe report on that later. Buy it in stores (not sure about steam) and you get a Steam-enabled copy of Sin1, which is a good thing. I wish they spent less time on the villians boobs and more on actually making me want to know more about the story, though. When I played it the day it came out, the game was really really hard and I barely beat it, even if godmode in one spot that was totally impossible. They have fixed that, but I hope not too much, because one of the best parts of playing it originally was that it was so damn hard, I really had to do everything in my power to get past some parts. Play Sin2 has shown me just how important Fear was though, I really notice how dumb normal FPS enemies are, and how simple the combat can be when compared to Fear. Really, that game changed everything I expect from an FPS. Ok I just I reported on Sin2 now, time for work and maybe Dreamfall. Posted by superseth @ 09:36 AM PST |
