02/03/2007 Entry: "so what now?"

David
so what now?:

as i sit in the dark recesses of my basement living domestical, i've been doing a significant amount of introspection, and am wondering where others currently stand on this topic. like a few of those who frequent this site, i am an English major and am questioning the validity and applicability of my degree. so my purpose here is to see what people are doing. i'm applying to graduate school to get a Masters in Teaching/Education so i can be a secondary language arts teacher, but i often doubt that i've chosen the correct path. i've also considered applying to law school, since the majority of my education has been devoted to developing and defending argument. however, i'm at a turning point in the journey of life and what to see where the rest of my good friends and contemporaries are at. respond or whatever. peace.

Speaking of bad English I misspelled "your" and can't edit it.

You're new avatar is awesome David.

To answer your question, now that congress has put me out of work I don't know what I'm going to do.

secondary education, for high school teaching, not ESL. just to clarify since there seems to be some confusion about my career path. god. it scares me to think about trying to teach English to second language learners, i can hardly speak the language correctly myself.

Before I would go into 2nd language teaching as a life career, I would join a Peace Corps 2nd language project for 2 years and get a chance to try it out- which will get you a few more years on life. It helps to get to know yourself in real test of your skills and commitments.

PS. I started my 40 year teaching career in a second language program with the PC - Philippines IX Group 1962.

I am getting my degree and then talking kyle into riding around the US in a old school bus until I am totally out of money. Or something equally silly.
